THE VISION

914 Bathurst presents an opportunity to provide a diverse range of new homes along a main street in the Seaton Village neighbourhood. We’re proposing to redevelop the site with a 10-storey residential building that respects the scale of the neighbourhood, and includes 124 residential units that range from 1-3 bedrooms.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

MID-RISE SCALE

The proposed mid-rise design is a similar scale to the existing building on site today. It will create a gentler transition towards the low-rise homes in the neighbourhood, while allowing for a much needed range of new housing options.

TRANSPORTATION

The site is just a 3-minute walk to Bathurst Station, which provides connection to the Line 2 subway, as well as the 7 bus and 511 streetcar. With nearby amenities and a cycle route along Barton Avenue, the site supports a more pedestrian and bike-friendly urban environment when compared to other neighbourhoods in the city.

LOCALLY-FOCUSED
COMMUNITY

The site is ideally situated in walking distance of four grocery stores, including Karma Co-op which recently celebrated 50 years in the neighbourhood. There are numerous neighbourhood parks, local coffee shops, and the future Mirvish Village at Bathurst and Bloor will introduce a range of shops, restaurants, and other amenities.

CURRENT SITE

The existing building was formerly occupied by Vermont Square, a provincially licensed long term care (LTC) home. Vermont Square was closed down in September 2021 with consent of the Ministry of Long Term Care. All residents of Vermont Square were resettled in other facilities prior to the closure.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The existing site is a vacant 7-storey building. The building was previously occupied by a long-term care facility, known as Vermont Square.

Vermont Square was closed down in September 2021 with consent of the Ministry of Long Term Care.

All residents were resettled in other facilities prior to the closure in September 2021.

A Transportation Impact Study is required as part of the application submission. With close proximity to Bathurst Station, and walkable amenities in the neighbourhood, we anticipate fewer required vehicular trips.

With the age of the existing building and current vacancy, this site presents a significant opportunity for improvements to the public realm and pedestrian experience along Bathurst Street.
